Minutes for meeting held on 18TH July 2011
at Parkway Social Club

PRESENT: Doug Andrews (Chairman), Tim Grace, Eileen McKie, Louise Bowes, Peter Phelps,, Racheal Smith, Malcolm Foster. Lorraine King

APOLOGIES: David Wilson, Asif Rahemtulla, Linda Millar , Fran Harris

MINUTES: Minutes of the previous meeting were read and accepted as a true record.

MATTERS ARISING: Doug told the meeting that he had received a call from Catherine Jackson from the HMRC and it has been arranged that she will attend our next meeting to give us a talk. She will concentrate.mainly on self assessment for small businesses. If anyone has any specific questions they would like answered please try to let Doug know so that he can pass them on. Catherine will not be able to answer questions that are personal to the individual.

CHAIRMANS REPORT:

 Doug read out an e-mail he had received from Asif regarding the meeting he had with Mary Edwards regarding points discussed during our meeting held 21st.March 2011.Mary informed Asif that they have re-negotiated the radio licence.However,they do not have a radio anymore! She has asked if our group is able to fund one. A bsic one would cost in the region of £15. This was discussed and it was decided to see if any member had one they no longer required that they would be willing to donate. Regarding the matter of the Test Centre notice about the behavior of accompanying drivers on test it was agreed that a “business card”size note can be attached stating that our group have endorsed this. If the group are in agreement Asif will arrange to do this. The meeting did agree. With regard to ADIs using test routes Asif commented that the point raised by Mary in her earlier e-mail was mis-interpreted.Instructors are obviously allowed to use roads on the test routes,but what she is asking is not to use a whole test route from start to finish. Tim’s suggestion of having separate bays for starting and ending tests to relieve the problem of early arrivals of test candidates received the following comment. The directive from the DSA is that the candidate is to be asked to park in any bay of their choice. We do not limit them to any bay/s. DE’s do not know which manoeuvre the other DE’s have been able to complete on the road and we work hard to stay out of each others way. By ADI’s not entering the car park any more than 10 minutes before the test any obstructions should be kept to a minimum. This has always worked in the past, and usuually, once ADI’s have been reminded, the problem is solved….until the next time.

 Doug informed the meeting that he was unsure of when and where the Eastern Region MSA AGM would be held. He would let them know as soon as he had the information.

TREASURERS REPORT:

 Fran not being present there was no report.

SECRETARYS REPORT:

 Asif being unable to attend there was no Secretary’s report.

SOCIAL EVENTS:

 Eileen said she would arrange for a BBQ on Saturday 30th.July if this was convenient to the majority. It was and it will go ahead. All members AND THEIR FAMILIES will be welcome. Don’t forget. Food will be provided but bring your own drinks.

ANY OTHER BUSINESS:

 There was no other business.

 19th SEPTEMBER 2011 in the Mallard Suite Parkway Sports and Social Club Maskew Avenue Peterborough at 8.00pm. It was requested that we arrive promptly for this meeting as Catherine Jackson will be speaking before the meeting proper as she has to get back to Cambridge. Thankyou. Doug.
